There is No Race When you Stay in your Own Lane

Sharing is caring!

There is no race when you stay in your own lane.
How to stop comparing and start winning in your business.

Have you ever looked around and it seems as though everyone around you is doing well and
winning in their business?

Folks who started when you did are now way ahead of you?

This has got to be one of THE WORST feelings as an entrepreneur. *pulls hair and screams in
mouth*

The feeling of defeat.

Feeling like you’re doing something wrong when you are literally working everyday in your
business.

Feeling like you got left out of the magic potion of success. Who was greedy and didn’t pass me
mine?

I have cried countless tears behind these feelings.

They finally subsided when a light bulb went off.

Well, it wasn’t a bright light bulb but something sparked.

I was listening to a Clubhouse chat about why entrepreneurs compare themselves to one
another.

I am a visual learner, so as I was listening I imagined a race track. No one was on this racetrack
but me.

There was no starter that pulled the gun to make it pop which was my queue to go.

All the other lanes were empty.

And I imagined myself speeding up and slowing down just to see if I was really in this race
alone. Sure enough, I was. No one passing me and I didn’t pass anyone.

I also noticed that I was still intentional about staying in my lane and not crossing the lines.
Although I was free to do so. I didn’t.

So then I decided to add another component to this race.

Other people! Not just other people, but they were entrepreneurs. I just wanted to see if this
would cause me any angst.

Guess what, they didn’t.

Well, let me back up.

Before I added the other folks to my visualization, I did a quick mindset shift by saying some
affirmations.

Theeeennnn, I added the others.

It worked! The mindset shift and affirmations worked.

I saw others on my race track, going ahead of me and I even saw myself passing others.

I was focused though.
I wasn’t looking around.
I made extra sure that I stayed in my lane.

Now, queue the light bulb or little spark.

There is no race when you stay in your own lane.

You can go as fast as you want or as slow as you want.

This spark, alone, eased my feeling of defeat.

Let’s add another dynamic to this discovery.

If you understand how the Universe works.
Then you will understand when I tell you that you’re exactly where you need to be.

What a freakin relief.

Although I THINK I should be further, I found comfort in knowing that I’m right where I need to
be.

This thought process helped me start pulling more affirmations from my rolodex to tell myself.

Dancing around the house, telling myself that what God has for me is for me.

That I’m deserving of success and its here for me to receive.

Money and clients flow to me effortlessly.

I was on a role and it felt good.

Soooo, cheer up buttercup.

Now let’s continue to address this comparison piece. I was in a good head space and place and
wanted to dig a little deeper. I had to step out of the comparison shoes and go into observation
mode.

Well, I remembered that success leaves clues.

So I chose one successful person that I admire and follow and asked myself, what are they
doing to achieve so much success?

The answers started coming to me before I could even finish the question.

Well the first thing is, they were clear on what they offer.

I have to admit, as a multi talented entrepreneur, I would get an idea and shift my attention to
that idea. So I never finished what I started. I had to choose one thing and commit to it. This
was a painful process but my life and my business started getting alot easier once I chose ONE
thing.

Someone is already doing what I’m doing. Not just one someone but alot of someone’s. The
coaching market and spiritual market is saturated!

Spirit quickly reminded me of three things.
1 I am needed.
2 There is not another me that can coach the way I do.
3 There is enough room for all of us.

Listen, this lesson was getting good to my soul. You hear me?

Every time I found myself slipping back into a victim state, I had the support of Spirit to remind
me of my worth.

This didn’t come overnight.
This took alot of prayer and meditation to get to where I am.

You guessed it, that’s a conversation for a different blog post.

Remember in my blog about SelfLove, I mentioned its important to show yourself some mercy?

Well, I definitely practice what I preach.
This is another situation or opportunity to show myself some mercy.

I’ve had quite a few health challenges that required life saving medical procedures, required
being under doctors care and being on meds that interrupted my cognitive thinking.

This is the beauty if when you stay in your own lane, there is no race. There really is no
comparison.

I’m already winning and have been.

Now its your turn to stop comparing and KEEP winning in your business.

Now listen, I know I mentioned a few times how I tell myself affirmations to shift my mindset.

Thanks for reading.
